Non-profit Website Design
Vision 21 is an independent environmental sustainability non-profit organization in Gloucestershire, UK. They came in search of an update to their site and I gave them a completely new design on an open platform with areas to promote social media, encourage membership and donations, display an online calendar of events, and exhibit a portfolio of current projects.
This custom site was created in WordPress giving the client ultimate control and easy management without the need for ongoing maintenance costs. See my thoughts on using WordPress and why I think it’s a great platform for sites both big and small. Check out Vision21.org.uk to see all of the great work they are doing.

Summer Camp – Identity & Print Launch
The client approached me to give them a look and style with a consistent presentation for their camp which recently changed names. The direction was “classic camp, outdoors, straightforward” and “adirondack meets Colorado.”
A name change can be tricky to say the least, but a strong launch with a bold, consistent brand style is a must for success! To accomplish this, I created a brand board with their new logo as the primary element to establish a color palette, supporting artwork, typography, and an array of brand elements. This translated into a Style Guide document which they can now use for their own direction to keep a cohesive brand presentation.

This brand is a representation of the idyllic summer camp. With horseback riding, bunk rooms, and bonfires, what’s not to love? My mind kept focusing on the great memories to be forged for each and every camper and I wanted to give that visual experience to every parent and child who saw the poster or read the brochure. So, next up was to translate the newly created style into a few print pieces to launch the new name and style.
From the identity development came the print launch which came together beautifully. Each piece tells the story of location, camp life, and a summer experience to remember for a lifetime!

Grassland Community – Brand Identity
I previously shared the full development for this brand from naming to logo and on through web and marketing materials. In looking back at my original post, I felt that I left out the basic foundation of the brand identity. So, here it is.
The brand board is the backbone on which all design elements flow forth. The logo is the main element and from there come many supporting elements, including colors, typography, accents, artwork, etc. It is from this brand board that functional pieces can be designed.
A large part of the design process poking around to find inspiration. I don’t design to follow a trend or match another style. I take a look at the big picture, then dive into the details and look into the background of the person, the company, or in this case, the local area for bits and pieces that come together in the end to create a unique, cohesive identity. This brand is a representation of a community and it’s people, tradition, heritage, character, and overall spirit.

From the identity development came the web site, social media elements, and print marketing materials. You can find my previous post about those here. I will also be sharing more about some recent product development for this brand soon.

Start to finish. Top to bottom. Concept to creation. Whatever you want to call, it this one was a full design and development from name creation to full identity and online package. I love it and it speaks to local area community pride. The notable icon used throughout various online outlets is the front of the “Grassland Community” historical marker. The title header serves as the logo and was also used to create various products with flair for the online store. Everything is live and in good working order, ready for the marketing launch!

Why Personalized Gifts are Always in Style

When buying gifts, many options are decent gifts, but often something still seems to be lacking. What is it that will put that special touch into the birthday present for your mom, or the anniversary gift for your husband, graduation gift for the neighbor. A personalized gift is the answer. Personalization can make the average thought into a meaningful and useful gift.
Of course, it’s the thought that counts, but why not personalize your next gift to make the recipient know you’re thinking especially of them. The personal touch eliminates any thoughts that you just picked up something on the way or pulled a box out of your special gift drawer at home.
When your gift is personalized and has a creative touch, it uniquely belongs to that individual. It will not be just another gift, but will be a memorable gift that stands the test of time. You’re sure to give something unique and special that no one else can just pick up and throw in a gift bag on the way.
So, why are personalized gifts always in style? They are each individually unique and memorable. A personalized gift turns the thought into a special gift that truly counts!
I love designing personal items that you can have for yourself or give as a gift because I can create something truly unique every time. It’s fun to see what colors and styles each individual likes and how you choose to interpret your personalize style into your own personal stationery, blog, phone case, and more! What do you love about custom personalized gifts?
